ernestSo I had an idea and I'm honestly not sure if it's a good idea or a horrible one. Jadis/Miraz would make a strangely compelling pairing. I don't know how or why Jadis gets resurrected after being killed, but they really have similar plans, at least in the very short term. Only she gets what she wants through her feminine wiles, and he through his heavy-handed militarism. So she comes back, maybe not physically, but enough that he can hear her voice asking if he believes in her, and if he squints, he can almost see the blood-red of her lips.
And if she's back, she'd know that Edmund is on his way, even if he doesn't know it yet, because a part of her is always in his mind. And she makes sure that she's there when he arrives. For Edmund, she's not just a legend as she is for Miraz, because he can still remember when he was in love with her, and it's terrifying that he used to feel this way. She smiles and tells him he hasn't changed a bit, but he corrects her and says that this time around he's not afraid of her.
Bear in mind that this idea attacked me at one AM last night, so I'm not entirely responsible for where it takes me. I really don't want to end up writing this, because it's so creepy and I don't know if it even works. But I have a feeling I'll just keep coming up with ideas to add to this one until it becomes a gigantic scary snowball of a fic.
