1) I'm writing this post from my new laptop. It's beautiful and I think it's name is Harold. It looks like a Harold.

2)
Yes, Shakespeare commentfic is still going on. Go forth and Shakespeare!

3) I go to college in six days. I'm almost all packed, but I still need to sort out my books because I can't take all of my lovelies with me. One Hundred Years of Solitude, Midnight's Children, and A Midsummer Night's Dream are non-negotiable, and so are the history books Stephanie lent me.

4) Narnia! I love everyone in it, especially Edmund, who is an utter BAMF. Jadis is nuts, but you guys are probably tired of hearing me complain about her, so I won't.

5) SUPERNATURAL INDUCES CAPSLOCK! SAM BEING DRUNK AND MAKING DEAN PROMISE TO KILL HIM. OH MY GOODNESS! Also, I'm writing a poem in which they are each other's worst weapons. Sorta.

6) I have two playlists - Brotherly Love and Roadtripping. This means I can include fandoms that aren't just Supernatural. For example "White Wedding" is completely and totally about Laertes/Ophelia. It's so sad, but also awesome.

7) That meme everyone else is doing sounds fun so,

Ask me my Top Five Whatevers. Fannish or personal or pointlessly random. And I will answer them either in comments or a new post, possibly with pictures!

This is just a random brain-fart of ideas I've had while working on my fic

1) In VotDT, the narrator says something like "When I talked to Lucy about it later, she told me..." This is one of the few times he's an actual character with a role. So who is the narrator? Is he Lewis himself? When and where does he get a chance to talk to the Pevensies?

2) What does Jadis do in between The Magician's Nephew and LWW? She's still alive at the end, so what does she do when she's preparing for the Long Winter?

3) Calormenes are called darkies, which just makes my heart break, since CS Lewis is just so much cooler than that most of the time. Although, I did read some of his religious writings a while back and he seemed much more tolerant of other religions and beliefs.

4) What REALLY happens to Susan at the end of LB? Why isn't she a friend of Narnia anymore, or is it something bigger than that? Why does Peter just move on to a new topic of conversation really quickly? It's like he's evading the entire issue. I mean "Oh look, here are some lovely fruit trees"?

5) How many fandoms can this series be crossed over with?

I can't sleep for the life of me. I caught some kind of bug while I was working as a counselor for a whole bunch of three and four year olds, so I was spacey and tired all day. I slept for almost three hours when I got home and not I feel much better... and wide awake. I want to sleep, but I can't.

There are several things I could be doing to take advantage of my wakefulness
1) Work on my crazy-long Jadis!fic
2) Work on my Supernatural fanpoetry [personal profile] zempasuchil helped me realize what it needed, and now I just need to turn my brainstorming into verse
3) Sort books into stuff to bring to college and stuff to *sob* leave at home
4) Read Stardust so I can finally check it off my list of summer books
5) Watch Supernatural and wish that [personal profile] zempasuchil were awake so I can liveblog at her She woke up and we watched "Crossroad Blues" I cried
6) Study French
7) Play Omegle and try to find GQMFs No one was playing along, so it got boring pretty fast.

First of all, I finally saw Prince Caspian last night, and I'm in love with Edmund! I mean, even more than I already was. But now I understand where all of this wonderful fic I've been reading for months comes from! It actually has basis in canon; people didn't just decide that Edmund is a spymaster - he totally and completely IS.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about the battle they had right before Peter fights Miraz. I guess it belongs there and it certainly shows off Edmunds BAMFery, but it made me a bit sad to see Peter and Caspian fighting so much.

On the whole, though, this movie was incredible and I was grinning the whole time at the slashy elements that couldn't possibly have been a mistake.

ALSO! Jadis! And Peter! And Edmund, to quote [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil , "just shanks her from behind but seriously? I bet he would be freaking the fuck out." So this scene TOTALLY validates my weird Jadis/Miraz theory.

I've been inspired by [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics and [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil to read Emile Durkheim's "Elementary Forms of Religious Life" and it's fantastic. I honestly don't know if I like it for itself or because it provides me with another way of looking at Narnia. Because Forms and Foundations by [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics is the first context in which I became aware of this book.

These are some quotes from "Elementary Forms" that I really love:

Coming soon: a gigantic fic-reccing party of stuff I've found trawling the internet on my day off school

I've gotten alot of fics almost finished and I'll get around to posting them eventually
One of these is Singe-Ange, or the one where Castiel is a monkey. IN FRENCH! and then I translated it into English, but I wrote it in French and it's the thought that counts.
I also have a story in which Christopher Pike and Jim Kirk intersect because of the effect George had on each of them. Except that's not exactly what it ended up being. It's complicated, okay.
In biology class we saw a movie about deserts and I was thinking about Narnia at the same time, so Edmund is overlapping with sand dunes like complicated script written out by an ancient hand. I don't know if I should post this or not.

I'm almost done with Shalimar the Clown by Salman Rushdie. There's so much imagery in there, it's amazing! [livejournal.com profile] lassiterfics and [livejournal.com profile] zempasuchil  would especially like it. It turns people into countries while their dreams sprout wings and fly away!
What should I read next, Narnia or His Dark Materials? Because they're like the antithesis of one another but the story is so good in both series.
And after that should I read One Hundred Years of Solitude or Pedro Paramo?

Ideas

So I had an idea and I'm honestly not sure if it's a good idea or a horrible one. Jadis/Miraz would make a strangely compelling pairing. I don't know how or why Jadis gets resurrected after being killed, but they really have similar plans, at least in the very short term. Only she gets what she wants through her feminine wiles, and he through his heavy-handed militarism. So she comes back, maybe not physically, but enough that he can hear her voice asking if he believes in her, and if he squints, he can almost see the blood-red of her lips.

And if she's back, she'd know that Edmund is on his way, even if he doesn't know it yet, because a part of her is always in his mind. And she makes sure that she's there when he arrives. For Edmund, she's not just a legend as she is for Miraz, because he can still remember when he was in love with her, and it's terrifying that he used to feel this way. She smiles and tells him he hasn't changed a bit, but he corrects her and says that this time around he's not afraid of her.

Bear in mind that this idea attacked me at one AM last night, so I'm not entirely responsible for where it takes me. I really don't want to end up writing this, because it's so creepy and I don't know if it even works. But I have a feeling I'll just keep coming up with ideas to add to this one until it becomes a gigantic scary snowball of a fic.
